Field Trip: Blackwell Native Plant Nursery

Directions: the nursery is in West Chicago. From Route 59, turn east on Mack Road for 0.6 miles to the Grounds and Resources complex. Park in the lot on the north side. The nursery is directly across the street.

Note that Blackwell is a very large preserve with a main entrance and parking lot off Butterfield Road, but we will meet on the parking lot off Mack Road.

parking Note also that there are 2 parking lots near each other on the north side of Mack Road. The one to the west says "McKee Marsh Parking" and "West Sector Operations". We meet at the one to the east that says "Grounds and Resource", and has several Forest Preserve maintenance buildings; also you can see the entrance to the native nursery directly across the east parking lot. There is also a little (9 acres) oak/hickory woodland right next to the Resource and Grounds parking lot, and we will first spend some time exploring there, so if you are a few minutes late, look for us in there.
